Michaels’ parents are Dick and Carol Hickenbottom, and he was born on July 22, 1965, as Michael Shawn Hickenbottom. When Michaels was eight years old, his family moved from the United Kingdom to Maryland, thanks to his father’s job as an Air Force pilot. They described him as a quiet, shy boy who participated in numerous sports, including football, and was well-liked by all. When Michaels was 12, he decided he wanted to be a professional wrestler, but his high school didn’t have a wrestling team; he recalls thinking that. Pro Wrestling Career
The Rockers
To get ready for his pro wrestling debut with the NWA’s Mid-South Wrestling territory in October 1984. Michael trained with Mexican wrestler Jose Lothario. He later became a member of The Midnight Rockers tag team with partner Marty Jannetty. And the two went on to win the 1986 AWA world championship together as The Midnight Rockers. Michaels and Jannetty renamed The Rockers in 1987 after a fight in a Buffalo, New York bar, joined the WWE. And was fired after just one day in 1987.
The pair signed on with Continental Championship Wrestling (CCW) in Birmingham, Alabama. Where Michaels claims they wrestled in front of 25 spectators each week for $300.
