How to protect your hair from heat review
Direct exposure to the sun can be very damaging to the condition of the hair — the result is usually similar to damage from curling, blow-drying, and washing with non-conditioning products. In the summer, care should be gentle: we are talking about both styling and maintaining cleanliness. Haircare services will help you to protect them for everything. This kind of beauty service is a must-try in summer.
To minimize the damage that high temperatures, humidity and sunlight can cause to your hair:
- Use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner to prevent dehydration in the heat.
- Wash your hair once a week with a deep cleansing shampoo, followed by a nourishing mask.
- Try to minimize the use of hot styling devices: straightening and curling irons or dryers – otherwise, the hair will dry out and become brittle.
- Protect it from the harmful effects of the sun: choose products with UV filters, vitamins, and antioxidants.
- When sunbathing, cover your head with a scarf.
- Try to use styling products that are light in texture: they will help prevent frizz.
As a rule, skin sprays have a light texture and will not weigh down the strands. But they can effectively protect them. To do this, spray the mixture into the air, then enter the resulting cloud.
Coconut oil
Coconut oil is a good alternative. It is commonly found in most sun protection products. If it is not possible to buy professional cosmetics, then you can use pure coconut oil, which is available in almost every pharmacy at a cost incomparable to salon products. 3-5 drops of oil will be enough. It must be rubbed in your hands and distributed along the entire length of the hair. And the main attention should be paid to the tips, without affecting the roots.
The usual hair balm works in a similar way, but it is better to use it before going to the beach. You just need to apply it. And under the influence of sunlight, the balm will penetrate deep into the hair, moisturizing and protecting it. If you add sunscreen lotion (60 ml) for the face or body and water (20-40 ml) to the balm (50 ml), you will also get a good protective agent.
It is very useful to abandon the use of a hairdryer, ironing and curling iron for the summer. In extreme cases, at least set the minimum temperature. Otherwise, when you go out into the sun, your hair will begin to break down. Styling products, in particular foam, gel, wax and varnish, are also banned in the heat. If the hairstyle still requires “victims”, then it is better to choose cosmetics with UV protection and without alcohol, parabens, and mineral oils. Not only cosmetics and the rejection of a hairdryer will help protect your hair from the hot sun, but also proper nutrition. The most useful will be red grapes, apricots, spinach, oranges and tangerines, and broccoli.
For dry hair
A nourishing mask, which is useful to include in hair care in the summer, is applied up to 2 times a week and is applied to the hair for only a quarter of an hour. For 2 tablespoons of cream, take a teaspoon of lemon juice and a teaspoon of olive oil. After mixing the components, apply the mask to clean, not completely dried hair, thoroughly rubbing into the scalp.
Herbal decoctions such as hair rinses in the summer are very effective. Here is one of these recipes: a tablespoon of lemon balm and a tablespoon of birch leaf are poured for half an hour with two glasses of boiling water. Rinse your hair with this decoction – this will protect them from harmful effects and stimulate growth.
For oily hair
A mask to normalize the condition of the hair and prevent rapid pollution is done 1-2 times a week. Take a teaspoon of 1% fat milk, fat-free cottage cheese and lemon juice, and add 2 tablespoons of apricot pulp. The resulting mass is brought to a homogeneous state and applied to the scalp and hair. Wash off such a mask after 10-15 minutes, rinsing the hair well, first with warm and then cool water.
Boil the peel of 4 lemons in a liter of water, then cool and rinse your hair with a decoction.
